Applications & User Benefits
RITTER® wet-test (drum-type) gas flow meters are used universally to measure and record gas volume and gas flow rate for many industrial, petroleum and chemical processes; environmental; pilot plant or test; controlled chamber; laboratory and research applications.
RITTER® wet-test meters consistently provide the highest accuracy and precision even at the lowest gas flows with inert or the most aggressive gases.

Measurement Principle
RITTER® wet-test gas meters function upon the principle of positive displacement. The sample gas stream rotates a measuring drum within a packing fluid, usually water or low viscous "white" (clear) oil. A needle-dial and counting mechanism, coupled to the rotating drum, records the volume of gas flow as it sequentially fills and empties from the drum's rigid, fixed volume measuring chambers.
Accuracy
±0.20% or better.

Measuring Ranges
RITTER® wet-test gas meters offer seven (7) standard measuring ranges from as low as one (1) l/hr up to 18,000 l/hr.

Measurement Standard
RITTER® wet-test meters measure the actual volume of gas flow. Norm volume, if required, must be calculated using the actual RITTER ® measurement of gas flow, while correcting for current gas pressure and gas temperature.

Pulse Generator
Application
The RITTER® Pulse Generator, a wet-test gas meter accessory, is a rotary encoder with pulsed electronic output. It transfers recorded data: (a) volume (liters) of measured gas; and (b) gas flow rate (liters/hr) to an external recording or data processing link such as a chart recorder or PC interface for remote or unattended operation.

Components
Slit disk; photo interrupter; 5-pin socket (round). Power, interfacing hardware (RS-232), and data processing software, if required, must be provided by the user. Real-time, visual readout of flow rate and volume data is available by coupling the programmable EDU 32 (electronic display unit) accessory to the pulse generator.
Description
A disk with radial slits at its periphery is synchronized to the rotation of a measuring drum immersed in the meter packing fluid. Disk slits rotate through a photo interrupter; first permitting the unobstructed passage of a light beam; and then, momentarily, obstructing the beam. Each completed light transmission cycle is registered as a single electronic pulse.

The photo interrupter thus converts each revolution of the measuring drum into a series and sequence of electronic pulses. The frequency of these pulses indicates the rotational speed of the measuring drum, providing an accurate and precise measurement of gas flow rate. The number of pulses is directly proportional to the actual gas volume passing through the RITTER® wet-test gas flow meter.
